Harrison Central bowling teams compete at districts at Legacy Lanes

The Division II state tournament will be Feb. 27-28

The Harrison Central boys and girls bowling teams competed Thursday at Legacy Lanes in Coshocton in district play. The top two teams advanced to state. Carrollton and River View placed first and second in the girls standings, while Barnesville and River View finished first and second on the boys side.

In the girls tournament, Carrollton won with 3,249, followed by River View with 3,242. East Liverpool was third with 3,130, Minerva placed fourth with 2,969, Harrison Central finished fifth with 2,822 and Garaway was sixth with 2,670.

Sophie Bland led Harrison Central with a 421 series (148, 115, 158). Junior Jaylie Byers rolled 417 (137, 131, 149), and Tayla Thompson added 401 (121, 144, 136). Harrison Central’s total score of 2,822 placed the team fifth.

In the boys tournament, Barnesville won with 3,766, followed by River View with 3,660. Union Local was third with 3,551, Indian Valley placed fourth with 3,469, Conotton Valley was fifth with 3,402 and Harrison Central finished sixth with 3,189.

Senior Aiden Pettit led the Huskies with a 522 series (188, 147, 187). Sophomore Wyatt Durbin rolled 507 (197, 151, 159), and freshman Owen Whitacre added 488 (114, 166, 208). Harrison Central’s team total of 3,189 resulted in a sixth-place finish.

Conotton Valley sophomore Michael Lorello won the boys individual title with a 613 series (205, 197, 211). Buckeye Local sophomore Michael Kovalski finished second with 612 (194, 217, 201). Both qualified for state as individual bowlers. Lorello and Kovalski also qualified for district play as freshmen.

In the girls individual standings, Carrollton senior Kaylee Russell rolled a 491 series (156, 179, 165) and Conotton Valley sophomore Madelyn Case scored 486 (154, 184, 148), earning state berths as individual qualifiers.
