The month of November was a busy one for the Puskarich libraries in Cadiz, Scio and Freeport.
“We average about 20 to 25 children each week for Storytime,” Children’s Librarian Karli Ray said about the Cadiz location. “It’s designed for ages 18 months to 5 years and includes songs, stories and themed activities. This fall, themes included Pajama Day, Birthday Party, Halloween and our annual Macy’s Day Parade, where children bring balloons to parade around the library.”
Cadiz’s Book Bugs, a more active music-based program for ages 2-5, draws about 10 children each Friday.
The Scio Branch Library hosted a Thanksgiving Plate Scavenger Hunt, where participants searched for food-themed stickers throughout the library, along with turkey-themed crafts during Storytime. The Clark Memorial Branch in Freeport offered similar holiday fun, including a cookie contest for all ages just before Thanksgiving.

Beyond holiday activities, the library system also celebrated receiving a notable community honor.
“The Puskarich Library was honored to be nominated for, and awarded, 2025 Organization of the Year by the Cadiz Business Association,” Ray said. “We are grateful for the support of our community and for the opportunity to serve Harrison County each day. We are honored for this recognition and look forward to continuing to meet the needs of our community members.”
