Lady Huskies roll past Buckeye Local

Any hope of a Buckeye Local comeback was shut down in the third quarter as Harrison outscored the Panthers

Harrison Central’s girls basketball team delivered a strong road performance in a 52-19 win over Buckeye Local Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Harrison jumped out quickly, scoring 18 points in the first quarter while holding the Lady Panthers to 6. Buckeye Local made one field goal in the opening period and added four free throws, but the Lady Huskies took control early with an 18-6 lead.

The Huskies maintained the pressure in the second quarter, adding 14 points while limiting Buckeye Local to 6. Harrison carried a 32-12 lead into halftime.

Any hope of a Buckeye Local comeback was shut down in the third quarter as Harrison outscored the Panthers 16-5 to build a 48-17 lead. With the outcome in hand, the Huskies emptied the bench in the fourth quarter, outscoring Buckeye Local 4-2 to close out the 52-19 win.

Mik Pelegreen led Harrison with 12 points. Kelcie Powers scored seven, and Kara Blackburn, Bailey Smith and Ava Conley added six points each. Ella Smith finished with four points, Ady Stull scored three, and Zoe Whipkey and Shayla Nameth added two points apiece.

Harrison also hit nine 3-pointers. Pelegreen made three, Blackburn and Smith each hit two, and Powers and Nameth added one apiece.
