Lady Huskies fall to Cambridge, rally in loss to John Marshall
Harrison Central girls soccer battles back with four goals against Monarchs after shutout at Cambridge
The Harrison Central Lady Huskies took the field in Cambridge Sept. 4 to face the Bobcats. The Bobcats, sporting a 2-2-1 record, hit the net often in the first half, leaving the score at halftime 6-0 against the Dogs. The Huskies regrouped at the half and held Cambridge to three in the second half. Unfortunately, Harrison ended the game unable to score, with a final of 9-0 in Cambridge.
Lillianne Smith had nine saves in the contest.
Player of the game was Grace Miller.
was back on Wagner Field on Saturday against the John Marshall Monarchs. The Huskies struggled in the first half, scoring one goal before the break when Morgan Stock hit the net off an assist by Emma Patterson, still entering halftime with a deficit.
After the half, however, the Lady Huskies were on the move, quickly hitting the net when Marley Zeroski scored off an assist by Morgan Stock. Emma Patterson followed with a goal on a direct penalty kick. Morgan Stock finished the scoring for the Huskies with her second goal of the game. However, the Dogs were unable to overtake the Monarchs, with the final score 6-4.
Lillianne Smith added 17 saves to her total.
Coach Mindy Madzia spoke of her pride in the girls, stating they definitely put in the work and that team effort was also a factor. She also gave credit to seniors Grace Miller and Emma Patterson.
The Huskies will face Steubenville Big Red Tuesday at home and Magnolia Thursday at Magnolia.
