They say, “What goes around comes around,” and Wednesday, Dec. 3, the Lady Huskies basketball program certainly had the chance to prove it. The visiting Lady Bruins of Brooke High School were on the receiving end of a Husky blitz as both the junior varsity and varsity teams capitalized on the opportunity. After two scoreless outings, Harrison Central rediscovered its scoring touch.

In the reserve contest, the Huskies opened with 9 first-quarter points while shutting out the visitors. They outscored Brooke 11-3 in the second quarter, then added 7 more in the third while Brooke remained scoreless. Harrison went on to secure its first win of the season, 25-10.

An unexpected breakout performance by Destinee Robinson fueled the JV victory. Robinson scored 10 points and became a defensive force after discovering her strength in boxing out. Ella Smith came off the bench and quickly hit two 3-pointers for 6 points. Emily Cope and Ady Stull added 3 points each.

The JV success inspired the varsity squad, which delivered an equally powerful start. The Huskies shut out the Bruins 29-0 in the first quarter, with every player who entered the game scoring. Kelsy Powers and Emily Cope led the early surge, combining for 19 points — Powers with 9 and Cope with 10.

Harrison continued its dominance in the second quarter, adding 8 more points while Brooke finally scored 7.

After halftime, the Huskies stayed in control. They added 15 points in the third quarter while Brooke managed just 1. In the final period, Coach Smith turned the game over to the junior varsity players. Harrison added 2 more points, and Brooke scored 5, resulting in a 54-13 final.

Cope kept her momentum from the JV game, leading the varsity with 14 points. Mik Pelegreen finished with 9, and Kara Blackburn added 8. Ava Conley contributed 4 points while improving her rebounding presence.

Bailey and Ella Smith split 6 points evenly. Shayla Nameth scored 5 and continued to sharpen both her ball-handling and rebounding skills.
