Huskies Sports Foundation to host Handbag Bingo

The Huskies Sports Foundation will host Handbag Bingo March 21 at 5 p.m. at Wallace Lodge at Sally Buffalo Park, 43000 Industrial Park Road, Cadiz.

Winners in 20 rounds of bingo will receive designer handbags, including Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Dooney & Bourke, Coach and others. Two bonus rounds will feature the higher-end handbags.

“There are always a lot of fundraising events geared toward men, so we thought it would be fun to do something for the ladies,” said Heidi Thaxton, secretary of the foundation and mother of three boys involved in sports in the district.

Only 300 tickets will be available. Tickets are $30. Contact any foundation member or message them on Facebook.

The event also will include a Chinese auction with a variety of items, including baskets donated by Harrison Central sports teams. The foundation continues to accept donations.

Originally organized to provide all athletes with good shoes, the foundation now funds a variety of expenses for all Harrison Central sports teams and cheerleaders. By providing resources and opportunities for student athletes, the foundation plays a crucial role in enhancing the sports programs within the community.

“This is the first time we have done a bingo fundraiser,” Thaxton said. “The cost of everything is going up and in order to keep up, we try to come up with fun things that the community can do to help support our athletes.”
