The Harrison County Board of Commissioners approved two paving contracts and a resolution limiting animals in the courthouse during its Aug. 27 meeting.

Commissioner Dustin Corder read the contracts into the record. The first, Contract 11-25 with NLS Paving, covers resurfacing of 0.976 miles of Harrison 43 with 1.25 inches of asphalt intermediate course, 1.25 inches of asphalt surface course, shoulder treatment and centerline striping. It also includes 1.562 miles of resurfacing on Harrison 17 with 1 inch of intermediate course and 1.25 inches of asphalt surface course, followed by shoulder treatment and centerline work.

The second contract, 12-25 with Shelly & Sands, covers the same type of work on Harrison 43.

Commissioners also approved Resolution 33-25, restricting animals in the courthouse to only service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Pets, therapy animals, comfort animals and emotional support animals will no longer be permitted. The resolution, approved unanimously, took effect immediately.

In other business, the board announced its contribution to playground equipment in German Township. Corder said a ribbon cutting will be scheduled soon and displayed photos of the new swing set and playset.
