The season came to a close this week for both Harrison Central soccer teams.

The Huskies boys squad traveled to the Union Local Jets Hangar in Morristown Oct. 16 for their playoff matchup, hoping to break the regular-season split between the teams. Harrison Central won the first meeting 1-0, while Union Local claimed the rematch 4-3. In the postseason contest, the Jets scored twice in the first half and held on for the win. The Huskies’ defense held Union Local scoreless after halftime but could not break through offensively.

Senior Brady McAfee recorded five saves, bringing his season total to 130. Senior Hunter Fulton was named player of the match.

The Lady Huskies (3-14) traveled to Philo Oct. 15 to face the Electrics (11-5-2). The matchup was a rematch of a September non-conference game that Philo won 11-0. Harrison Central was looking to improve on that result, but Philo scored 10 goals in the first half and went on to secure the win. The Huskies held the Electrics scoreless in the second half but were unable to generate offense of their own. Philo has won eight games this season by four goals or more.

Harrison Central will still be represented in postseason showcase events. Emma Patterson and Grace Miller have been selected to play in the East District Showcase Nov. 8 at Crater Stadium in Dover. The boys showcase representatives will be Hunter Fulton and Brady McAfee.

HC will also have athletes in the OVAC All-Star Game Nov. 16 at Red Devil Stadium in St. Clairsville. Player selections for that game have not yet been announced.
