High school football statistics released Friday, Oct. 17, show three Harrison Central players ranked among the region’s leaders across several categories. The chart lists rushing, passing, receiving, scoring and kicking leaders based on performances through the first eight games of the season, with any exceptions in games played noted separately.

Harrison Central quarterback Brady Hyre is ranked fourth in passing. He has thrown for 1,276 yards, completing 111 of 141 pass attempts. Hyre has 12 touchdown passes and six interceptions and is averaging 159.5 yards per game. He also serves as the Huskies’ punter, continuing to be a consistent contributor in the kicking game as well.

Kayne Dunkle leads the receiving category with 42 receptions for 607 yards and three touchdowns. He has been a key target all season and continues to show why he sits at the top of the list.

Kicker Noah Thaxton is ranked 16th on the chart. Although that position may appear lower than expected, special teams play has grown in prominence in high school football in recent years, with more kickers reaching the end zone on kickoffs and successfully converting field goals. Thaxton has made 13 PATs and one field goal for a total of 16 points.

Other leaders on the chart include Wheeling Park’s Brennan Wack, who leads rushing with 1,205 yards on 144 carries through five games and 17 touchdowns for a 241.0-yard average per game. Bellaire’s Michael Dippel leads in passing with 1,855 yards on 126 completions out of 223 attempts and 17 touchdowns, with 10 interceptions and a 231.9-yard average per game. The scoring leader is Bridgeport’s Jaki Threet with 19 touchdowns for 114 points. The kicking leader is Indian Creek’s Franco Barcalow, who has made 29 PATs and three field goals for 38 points.
