Harrison Central boys grab first home win, split week’s matches
The Harrison Central boys soccer team traveled to the Lions’ Den at Minerva High School Aug. 26. The trip was long but rewarding. The Lions felt the Husky bite in the end.
A stepped-up offense was relentless and attacked without mercy. After unleashing a three-goal first-half attack, the Huskies returned to mark up one more before the game’s end. The Minerva Lions found the back of the net only once.
Huskies’ goals were credited to Triston Cole (2), Cooper Thompson (1) and Justin Scott (1). Assisting in the goals were Noah Thaxton, Justin Scott and Parker McAfee. Following this contest, Brady McAfee has tallied a total of 41 saves. Final score: Harrison Central 4, Minerva 1.
On Thursday, the Huskies held the home-field advantage at Wagner Field. The Tusky Valley Trojans’ 0-1-3 record held hope for the Huskies. Jonah Digman and Chase Limbaugh scored in the first half for the Trojans. Harrison Central was unable to hit the net, and Tusky Valley completed the game with a clean sheet and a 2-0 victory over the Huskies.
The Huskies refused to end the week on a bad note. Entertaining Fairless Saturday, Aug. 30, at Wagner Field, the Huskies were ready to take down the Falcons.
Justin Scott (#11) hit the net twice in the first half as the lone scorer of the game. Fairless stepped up its defense after the half and held the Huskies in check. The Huskies’ defense refused all attempts by Fairless, holding them scoreless.
Harrison Central kept a clean sheet and finished the game victoriously, 2-0. Triston Cole was credited with an assist, and Brady McAfee added five more saves to his credit. Justin Scott was named player of the match. This is the Huskies’ first home victory, making their record 2-4. On Tuesday, Harrison will play at home against the Cambridge Bobcats.
