Conotton Valley Schools is now accepting applications for their Share A Christmas program. The program provides Walmart gift cards and Buehlers food vouchers for families that live in the Conotton Valley school district or attend Conotton Valley Schools.
Conotton Valley Administrative Secretary Terry Beckley said the effort began locally, “It was created by church and community members and has grown to a committee made up of church and community members and school employees,” she said.
That was over 30 years ago. The church that began it was the Calvary Church in Sherrodsville, who saw a need in their community and became determined to do something about it.
“It is not affiliated with the school itself, other than we serve the students and families who live in the district or attend Conotton Valley schools,” Beckley said.
The program has helped countless families over the years and Beckley said she hopes it continues to bless those in need.
“It is funded through the generous donations of businesses, community members, local churches, organizations and fundraising activities done by the school,” Beckley said.
There is no income requirement to receive aid. To apply, pick up an application at Conotton Valley Jr./Sr. High School or Conotton Valley Elementary offices 7205 Cumberland Road SW, Bowerston.
The program doesn’t accept applications on behalf of families but will follow up on referrals. If you know anyone in need, contact the school at 740-269-2711.
