Bowerston Women’s Club plans spring luncheon

At the March 3 meeting of the Bowerston Women’s Club, the group set a date for the spring soup and sandwich luncheon.

After a brief discussion, the date of Sunday, April 26, was set. The event will be held at Trinity Church, 209 Main St., and run from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

An assortment of soups, sandwiches and desserts will be served in the community room in the basement of the church for a freewill offering. More details will be released after the April meeting.

The village’s annual Memorial Day event also was discussed. This event will be held in conjunction with the village and will take place Monday, May 25, at the community park.

For the past several years, the club has served a light lunch of hot dogs, chips, cookies and beverages. Those present agreed that most attendees have picnic plans after the event, and it was decided to serve only light snacks and cookies at this year’s celebration.

The club is responsible for the veterans banner project in the village, and member Debbie Carrothers said she is getting updated pricing to order any additional banners that are requested. The banners will be put up prior to Memorial Day and remain in place until November. More information will be available after the April meeting.

The club also maintains a list of area veterans for acknowledgment at the Memorial Day event. A sign-up sheet for additions will be available at the library at 200 Main St., Bowerston,

Lastly, the annual cleanup day and planting of the flowerpots on Main Street were discussed. Carrothers will obtain the flowers for the five containers, and club members will assist in planting and maintaining them. Cleanup day will be coordinated with the village and held prior to Memorial Day.

The next meeting of the Bowerston Community Women’s Club will be held Tuesday, April 7, at 6 p.m. in the upstairs of the library.
