The Cadiz Country Club (par 72) hosted the opening round of the 2025 Buckeye 8 Golf Tournament under hot and sunny conditions, according to Harrison Central head coach Todd Dunlap.
Beaver Local claimed the first-round lead with a team score of 314, edging St. Clairsville, which finished one stroke back at 315. Harrison Central closed the day with a 380.
Other team scores were Barnesville 328, Martins Ferry 330, Brooke 335, Indian Creek 352, Buckeye Local and Union Local tied at 365, East Liverpool 377 and Cambridge 386.
The individual leaderboard is tightly packed, with 10 players within 10 shots of the lead. Barnesville’s Brady Gallagher carded a 2-under-par 70 to take first place. Other team leaders included Kamden Kinyo, Beaver Local, 73; Mavrik Malin, St. Clairsville, 74; Owen Hill, Barnesville, 77; Nolan Zambori, Martins Ferry, 81; Parker McMann, Brooke, 83; Riley Guskea, Indian Creek, 88; Garrett Carpenter, Cambridge, 90; and Cooper Klein, East Liverpool, 92.
For Harrison Central, Cash Meadows led with an 85, followed by Logan Johnson with a 93, Jax Triplett with a 98, Andy Hendershot with a 104 and Evan Johnson with a 141.
The tournament concludes with the second round Aug. 26 at Belmont Hills Country Club. Afterward, the top six golfers will be named first-team Buckeye 8, the next six will earn honorable mention, and the overall team champion will be crowned.
