Coshocton club to revisit 1913 flood
Historical Club meeting March 9 at Prairie Chapel Methodist Church to explore the flood's impact on Ohio
The Coshocton Historical Club was organized in 1889, which may make it the oldest locally founded club in Coshocton. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month, October through May.
The first meeting in 2026 will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 9 at Prairie Chapel Methodist Church, 45494 County Road 23, Coshocton. Members and guests should enter the fellowship hall through the double doors at the far end of the building.
Program committee members include Dianne Peffer, who will share the history of the 1913 flood, which started Easter Sunday, March 23, 1913. She will talk about what caused the widespread flood that affected possibly all 88 counties of Ohio and involved 20 states.
Program co-chair will be Nancy Scott. Devotions will be led by Sally Kinkade. Glenn Kinkade will show Peffer's pictures on a screen. The business meeting will be led by Club President Sharon Hunter. The roll call question will be "Have you ever seen or been in a flood?"
