Christmas in the Village returns to West Lafayette on Dec. 6
Parade, breakfast, craft show and library festivities highlight full day of holiday fun
West Lafayette’s Christmas in the Village activities will be Saturday, Dec. 6. Family fun will include the annual parade, breakfast, a craft show and activities at the library.
The West Lafayette Lions Club will hold a breakfast from 7:30-10 a.m. at the West Lafayette United Methodist Church, 202 S. Oak St.
The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 10 and free for children under 2. The menu includes pancakes, French toast, sausage, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee.
The Christmas parade has a different route this year. Lineup will begin at noon at the intersection of Fourth Street and Plainfield Road. The parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will proceed left onto Plainfield Road and will turn right onto Main Street. It will loop through Lafayette Pointe back to Plainfield Road, turn right onto Russell Avenue, left onto Oak Street and end at the chamber eat stand. Santa, along with Home Loan Savings Bank, will be there to pass out candy and meet the children.
There is no cost to be in the parade, but you must call either Bo Fortune at 740-502-2828 or Alicia Hunt at 740-202-0196 by Wednesday, Dec. 3 to be put in the lineup. You will be contacted either Thursday or Friday with your space number.
A craft show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ridgewood Middle School. Carol Wears, organizer of the show, said she usually has 20-25 vendors set up. She said she hasn’t gotten that many yet, but people can sign up the day of the show. The show typically includes handmade jewelry, blankets, kitchen towels, wreaths, freeze-dried candy and many other items. Call Wears at 740-502-0838.
The West Lafayette Library will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The whole family is invited for refreshments, holiday trivia, crafts, photo opportunities and a raffle drawing.
