Sandy Valley Local Schools Alumni Association opens nominations for Distinguished Alumni Award

The Sandy Valley Local Schools Alumni Association will accept nominations for its Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honor bestowed by the association, from Dec. 1, 2025, through March 1, 2026.

The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes outstanding alumni and staff who have gone above and beyond in their professional and personal endeavors, positively impacting their profession, community and others. Recipients embody the ideals and spirit of Sandy Valley Local Schools and serve as role models through their dedication to excellence.

A selection committee will review nominations to identify individuals who uphold the values and mission of Sandy Valley Local Schools. The process provides the district an opportunity to recognize and celebrate lasting contributions.

Award recipients are honored at an induction ceremony during the Sandy Valley High School annual scholarship banquet held the first Saturday in May. A commemorative award is also displayed on the Alumni Hall of Fame wall in the SVMS/HS building.

Nominees must have graduated from Sandy Valley High School at least 10 years prior or have been employed by Sandy Valley Local Schools for at least 10 years. They should have demonstrated recognized achievement in areas such as business, industry, military service, education, medicine, nonprofit work, the arts, community service, government or charitable endeavors. Posthumous nominations are accepted. Nominations may be submitted by a family member, fellow alumni or anyone familiar with the nominee’s accomplishments, but not by the nominee themselves.

Nominations submitted by the March 1 deadline will be retained for three years.
