Minerva board accepts retirement and resignations
Minerva choir director retires with 33 years of service

A retirement and two resignations were accepted by the Minerva Local Board of Education at its March 16 meeting.
Retiring at the end of the current school year with 33 years of service is Debra Imler, choir director.
Resignations included Madison Foutz, a middle school tutor, effective June 30, and Jennifer Wolfe, a Title tutor, effective March 13.
In other business, the board:
— Hired Anna Shull as student support and Paige Fillman as a long-term substitute for the 2025-26 school year.
— Employed Ashley Semrock as a classified substitute.
— Approved Carl Michael as field maintenance supervisor for the current school year.
— Accepted the resignation of Megan Prendergast as spring musical director assistant and amended Jennifer Jones from a half spring musical director assistant to a full spring musical director assistant.
— Approved a contract with Elkhorn Valley Christian Service Camp for sixth-grade students May 7-8.
— Approved a memorandum of understanding with Walsh University for College Credit Plus for the 2026-27 school year.
— Approved expenditures totaling $2,424,262.38 for February and a list of donations totaling $55,890.
— Approved an appropriation modification and accepted the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission, authorized the necessary tax levies and certified them to the county auditor.
— Heard Superintendent Mark Scott extend congratulations to the band and choir and those who participated in the Stark County Math Olympics event.
Scott also noted the Minerva National Honor Society inducted 28 juniors and two seniors March 11 and that 64 students are currently attending elementary tutoring out of 76 invited.
He also briefed the board on Minerva Elementary’s participation in a successful Right to Read and Book Fair Week and on eighth-grade students who attended the Junior Achievement Career Fair — JA Inspire — at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
— Held an executive session to discuss the compensation of a public employee or official, with no action taken.
— Set the next meeting for Monday, April 20, at 6 p.m.
