After nearly three decades in business, Crowning Touch Cleaning Consultants continues to serve area residents with a family-centered approach to carpet and upholstery cleaning.

Owner Robert Stover started the business in 1997 as a way to provide for his growing family while serving as pastor of Bergholz Baptist Church, where he led the congregation for 25 years.

“My wife and I have 10 children,” Robert Stover said. “It was a way to provide for the family.”

Over the years, all seven of Robert Stover’s sons have worked in the business at some point. Today, his son, Joshua Stover, handles most of the day-to-day operations.

“Joshua does most of it now,” Robert Stover said. “I’ll go out with him once in a while.”

Joshua Stover said he began learning the trade at a young age.

“Being the family business, I actually started during the summers when I was like 11 or 12,” Joshua Stover said.

He later lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he continued working in carpet cleaning before returning to the area about five and a half years ago to work full time in the family business.

“I more or less have done this type of work all along,” Joshua Stover said.

Crowning Touch Cleaning Consultants provides carpet and upholstery cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, and water restoration services. The company charges by the square foot for carpet cleaning and offers free in-home quotes.

Robert Stover said the company uses an Aerotech cleaning unit, which heats water between 220 and 240 degrees to help maximize soil removal. A pre-spray is applied to loosen soils and oils before steam cleaning, and specialty spot treatments are used as needed.

“One of the added benefits of the unit that we have, there’s about a 300-pound blower that pulls the air through the hoses,” Robert Stover said. “It leaves the carpet damp and not wet.”

That stronger suction allows for faster drying times, he said.

Over the years, Robert Stover said the business has served approximately 2,600 clients, with most new customers coming from referrals.

“We treat our clients like family really and go the extra mile,” he said. “The joy is having our clients experience a thrilled cleaning experience.”

Joshua Stover said one of the most rewarding parts of the job is seeing the difference a cleaning can make.

“It’s satisfying to see your cleaning make a difference for folks,” he said. “They can be in a better environment with not as much of the dust and stuff that gets trapped in carpet and even on upholstery.”

He said the company frequently works with rental properties and homes being prepared for sale, helping extend the life of carpeting and improve appearance before new tenants or buyers move in.

Faith has remained central to the Stover family and their business practices.

“In all of our relationships and dealings, as well as the work that we perform, our goal is to honor the Lord in all those areas,” Robert Stover said.

Robert Stover and his wife, Regina Stover, have been married 47 years. In addition to their 10 children, they have 25 grandchildren. Regina Stover assists behind the scenes with administrative work and supports the business operations.

Looking ahead, Robert Stover said the company will celebrate 30 years in business in 2027. With Joshua Stover now leading most of the work, the family hopes to continue serving the community for years to come.
