A newly installed 25 mph speed limit sign on S. Lisbon Street marks the reduced school zone near the Carrollton school complex.

With all students in grades pre-K through 12 now attending Carrollton schools at one complex on Scio Road (state Route 332), traffic has increased and prompted Carrollton Village Council to reduce the speed limit from 45 to 25 mph.

Motorists should be aware that the new speed limit from Public Square south on South Lisbon Street (state Route 332) is now 25 miles per hour.

Carrollton Schools Superintendent David Davis said school officials have notified parents and students of the following traffic flow and how they are to enter and exit.

For all elementary students, drop-off and pick-up — all parents must use the designated loop to drop off and pick up their student(s). Elementary parents must use Industrial Drive. There are no park-and-walk-in options.

For all high school and middle school student drop-offs and pick-ups — all parents must use the loops to drop off and pick up their student(s). Middle school parents must use Industrial Drive. High school parents and student drivers are to use the main drive.

Open house well attended

The open house for all students held Aug. 19 was well attended, including an estimated 90% of the more than 1,000 elementary students, according to school officials. Visitors included students, parents, grandparents and interested citizens who toured all three sections of the complex, including the new elementary, middle school and high school.
