Carrollton man killed in state Route 524 crash
Patrol says 53-year-old Gregory Sivets died at the scene after his truck left the roadway in Fox Township
The New Philadelphia Highway Patrol Post is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred in Carroll County. The crash happened Nov. 20, at 3:27 p.m. on state Route 524 just south of Avon Road in Fox Township.
The crash involved a 2020 Ford F-150 driven by Gregory R. Sivets, 53, of Carrollton. Sivets was traveling southeast on state Route 524 when his vehicle went off the left side of the road and struck an embankment. The vehicle then crossed back over both lanes before leaving the roadway on the right side, where it struck a sign, a mailbox and railroad tracks before coming to rest in a private driveway.
Sivets was pronounced dead at the scene by Carroll County Coroner Mandel B. Haas, M.D.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Bergholz EMS, the Fox Township Fire Department, Keith’s Towing and the Carroll County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
