A MAGA reality check
Perhaps a look back to consider what the reality has been is in order
It has been more than one year since America chose to “Make America Great Again.” As we head into the new year, perhaps a look back to consider what the reality has been is in order.
Has the promise of a greater America translated into the hopes envisioned by those who elected Donald J. Trump?
Consider the economy, one of the pillars of the MAGA promise. Are the majority of middle class Americans really living better? Is our healthcare system strong, affordable and trusted? Are we comfortable with masked and armed militias patrolling American streets or our National Guard units sent to Washington DC to pick up trash? Are we comfortable that the rule of law seems to have been forfeited or that we no longer have three equal branches of government acting as a viable system of checks and balances?
Looking ahead, are we okay with “running” foreign countries or threatening those who have resources we want? Will Greenland be our next conquest? These are questions that we must all seriously consider as we contemplate the next three years of a MAGA presidency.
