Wooster Emblem Club spreads holiday cheer through service and giving
From meals for local families to wreaths for veterans and donations to community nonprofits, members continue their mission of generosity this holiday season.

Wooster Emblem Club met recently at the Wooster Elks Lodge. President Paulette Douglas presided.
Committee reports included Americanism.
Four members attended the homecoming of the Holmes-Wayne Honor Trip in Shreve and purchased a flag to fly over the courthouse during the winter. They also clipped coupons to send to overseas military bases.
The Ways and Means Committee reported holding a Swiss steak dinner, a card party and conducting 50/50 drawings.
The Elks Assistance and Drug Awareness committees reported participating in the Elks Trunk or Treat activity, passing out 180 bags of candy with the message “Wooster Emblem Club encourages you to just say no!”
Upcoming activities for November and December include attending the Wayne County Veterans Day program at the fairgrounds, serving desserts to veterans at the Elks Lodge, both on Nov. 11, a lasagna dinner Nov. 12 and providing Thanksgiving meals to two families from Job and Family Services.
December activities include making and selling buckeyes Dec. 3 and 10, draping a garland at the Wooster Cemetery Veterans Memorial, placing wreaths on members’ and spouses’ graves Dec. 13 for Wreaths Across America and ringing bells for The Salvation Army Dec. 11.
A final activity will be providing refreshments for the Ida Sue School Christmas party Dec. 17 and providing a holiday meal and gifts for two families from Job and Family Services.
The club voted to give $1,400 to local charities and nonprofits, including OneEighty, People to People Ministries, and Homeward Bound.
