Wooster Emblem Club marks 64 years with celebration and community service plans
Members honored past leaders, shared memories, and outlined upcoming projects to support local families, schools and service initiatives.

Wooster Emblem Club celebrated the 64th anniversary of the institution of the club. The club was formed Sept. 30, 1961. Past presidents were honored, and scrapbooks from the early years were shared. Members participated in a potluck lunch before the business meeting.
Scott Gregory, a retired special education teacher, spoke to the club about his involvement in Ghana and bringing educational supplies to the country.
President Paulette Douglas presided over the business meeting. She gave her report on the Supreme Convention in Independence, detailing activities and workshops she attended.
Carole Norris and Pat Gerber, literacy co-chairs, asked members to bring tissues and disinfecting wipes to be given to classrooms at Cornerstone Elementary.
Barb Flickinger, community service chair, said the club will adopt two families at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Ardenna Hurt, ways and means co-chair, gave the schedule of events for the remainder of the year. A luncheon card party will be held Oct. 15 at 11:30 a.m. A dinner (TBA) will be held Nov. 12. Members will make buckeyes Dec. 3 and 10.
Newly elected supreme officers were introduced: Carole Norris, supreme fifth trustee; Pat Gerber, supreme second guard; and Russ Norris, supreme assistant organist for the state of Ohio.
