Letter to the Editor
We the people still believe in democracy
Wooster resident says recent demonstrations affirm free speech and remind leaders that power rests with the people, not a “ruler.”
Letter to the Editor,
We the people took to the streets Oct. 18 to declare what two centuries ago our founders wrote: There are no kings in America.
We the people are defying intimidation and threats to send one unmistakable message: The power belongs to the people, not a ruler.
We marched, and the attacks on our democracy continue in the courts, in the halls of Congress and in the streets.
We don't know why "they" slammed the demonstration as a "hate America rally" or "it's all the pro-Hamas wing and the Antifa people."
On the other hand, the demonstrations were seen as an exercise of constitutionally protected rights to free speech as a threat to this right.
My fellow citizens, it is up to us to keep America shining on the hill.
Lupe Williams
Wooster
