Every day, lives are lost because help didn't arrive in time — not because it wasn't
possible, but because bystanders weren't prepared to step in. Nine out of 10
people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die, and in most of those
cases, no CPR was performed. We can change that.
The American
Heart Association is building a nation of lifesavers, and that work starts
right here in Wayne County. This year's Heart Walk isn't just about taking
steps for your health; it’s about stepping up to save lives.
Our goal is
bold but simple: One person in every household is confident and prepared to
perform CPR. Through the Heart Walk, we're expanding CPR education and training
across communities, increasing funding for lifesaving research, and working to
ensure equitable access to care and knowledge.
In Wayne
County support from initiatives like the Heart Walk helps us make lifesaving
tools and education more accessible in our community. This year alone we've
placed CPR training kits in local YMCAs and will soon install blood pressure
hubs in community spaces to fight the “silent killer.” It's all to ensure
longer, healthier lives right here in our community.
But we aren't
done yet, and we cannot do this alone. Every walker who joins and every dollar
donated helps turn a bystander into a lifesaver. This is your chance to be part
of something bigger.
As volunteer
co-chairs of the American Heart Association's 2025 Wayne County Heart Walk,
we’re calling on the greater Wooster community to rise to the challenge. Join
us. Walk with us. Be part of a community of lifesavers. Sign up for the Heart
Walk at www.heart.org/wayneheartwalk and help us create more survivors, more second
chances and more lifesaving moments.
We walk to
save lives. You can too.
