Letter to Santa calls for Fourth of July Parade permit in Wooster
Letter writer urges downtown celebration for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence
Letter to the Editor,
Dear Santa Claus,
What do I want for Christmas this year? All I want for Christmas is to rush downstairs and find in my stocking a signed permit from the City of Wooster allowing a parade downtown on the Fourth of July so all the citizens of our great city of Wooster may celebrate in grand style, with every other city, town, hamlet and village across the country, the glorious 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Dear Santa, we have inherited an extraordinary system founded upon freedom and liberty for all. Please help us to never forget this.
We are counting on you, Santa. Please do not let us down.
Your humble and obedient servants: John Hancock, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, 50 other delegates of the Continental Congress, Maj. Gen. David Wooster, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
Dr. Jason E. Anderson
Wooster
