Beginning May 22, Orrville’s farmers market will return for its second year with a new day and time — Fridays, May 22-Oct. 30, from 5-8 p.m. at Depot Park, 130 Depot St.

The market will feature a variety of vendors of handmade goods and homegrown and cottage foods. There will also be special events, music and food trucks.

“The market creates a space where the community can come together, support local businesses and build relationships,” said Kayla Myers, the new market manager. “It strengthens the local economy while giving residents access to fresh, handmade and locally produced goods. The market brings additional foot traffic into the downtown area, encouraging marketgoers to explore nearby shops, restaurants and services. It helps create a lively, active atmosphere that benefits the entire business community.”

The diverse selection of vendors includes farm-fresh produce, locally produced crafts, maple products, ground and whole-bean coffee and more. Events already scheduled include an ice cream social July 24 with Orr Valley Creamery and a special event with Smith-Orr Homestead in August during garage sale weekend. There will also be storytimes, a kids’ talent show and live music among the lineup for the season.

“(At the farmers market), shoppers get high-quality, locally sourced products they can’t find in big-box stores while also meeting the people who make or grow them,” Myers said. “It’s a more personal, enjoyable shopping experience with a direct impact on local families and small businesses. We also provide community activities and even a community recipe board that can serve as a way to share some favorite recipes with a stranger.”

There are still food truck, entertainment and vendor spots available for those interested. Anyone interested may apply on the website or email farmersmarketorrville@gmail.com. The market is held rain or shine. "The market is more than just shopping," Myers said. "It’s an experience. From live interactions with vendors to seasonal offerings and community connections, it’s a place where people can slow down, connect and truly support local. Every purchase makes a difference.”
