Tuscarawas Democrats to pick common pleas judge candidate
The seat is currently filled by a gubernatorial appointee through Dec. 31, 2026
The Tuscarawas County Democratic Central Committee will meet Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m. at Democratic Headquarters, 1260 Monroe St. NW, New Philadelphia.
The purpose of the meeting is to select a candidate for the November general election ballot for judge of the Tuscarawas County Court of Common Pleas. The open ballot position follows the retirement of Judge Elizabeth Thomakos.
The seat is currently filled by a gubernatorial appointee through Dec. 31, 2026. The candidate elected in the general election will serve the remainder of the term from Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2028.
Anyone interested in the position is asked to notify the central committee by emailing tuscdems@gmail.com before 6 p.m. March 9.
