Salvo announces reelection bid for Ohio House District 51

Salvo said accessibility and listening are central to her approach to public service

State Rep. Jodi Salvo

State Rep. Jodi Salvo has announced her reelection campaign for Ohio House District 51 following a campaign kickoff and initial fundraiser ahead of the November 2026 election. The event was well attended by community members, local leaders and supporters from across the district.

Reflecting on her first year of service in the Ohio House, Salvo described it as both productive and deeply meaningful.

“It has truly been a privilege and an honor to serve,” Salvo said. “This first year has reinforced for me how important it is to listen closely, work collaboratively and stay grounded in the real needs of our communities.”

Over the past year, Salvo said she has worked closely with leaders throughout Tuscarawas County, including mayors, county commissioners and school officials, to better understand community priorities and advocate for practical solutions at the state level. She said strong local relationships are essential to ensuring state policy reflects real-world needs.

During her first term, the Legislature addressed several significant policy challenges, including passage of House Bill 15, which she described as one of the most significant energy policies in Ohio history. Salvo said the legislation strengthens energy reliability, supports economic growth and helps position Ohio for long-term stability. She also cited progress on property tax reform, saying important steps have been taken to reduce pressure on homeowners and families, though more work remains.

Salvo serves as vice chair of the Ohio House Children and Human Services Committee. She also serves on the Energy Committee, the Community Revitalization Committee and the Natural Resources Committee. In addition, she is co-chair of the Aging Caucus and a member of the Pro-Life Caucus, the Rural Caucus, the Mental Health Caucus and the Rural Hospital Caucus.

She said she is working on 12 pieces of legislation, six of which originated from concerns raised by constituents in House District 51. Several efforts have advanced in partnership with legislators from both parties, reflecting Salvo’s view that many issues facing Ohio families are not partisan, but challenges requiring thoughtful and cooperative solutions.

Salvo said accessibility and listening are central to her approach to public service. She encouraged residents to reach out to her office if they would like to meet or talk and said hearing directly from constituents is essential to doing her job well and understanding how she can best serve the district.

With a professional background in mental health, addiction and prevention work, Salvo said she has focused much of her legislative effort on addressing community-based challenges and reducing barriers faced by Ohio families. She said she is particularly enthusiastic about continuing work on aging-related issues, including support for older adults, caregivers and local communities.

Salvo, who described herself as a woman of faith, said she brings a values-driven approach to public service. She said she is pro-life and a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights while remaining committed to addressing community needs in a practical and responsible way. She said her work reflects support for strong energy policy, a healthy business climate and solutions that support families, workers and local communities across the district.

As she looks ahead, Salvo said she remains grateful for the opportunity to serve and is committed to continuing her work with humility, accessibility and respect for the people of House District 51.
