Dover Historical Society to hold annual meeting

The Dover Historical Society will hold its annual meeting and Hall of Distinction induction ceremony at 1 p.m. April 12 in the Reeves Carriage House.
This will be the 10th Hall of Distinction induction ceremony. The honor was created to recognize Dover residents who have made the city a better place to live or whose achievements have brought recognition to Dover.
This year, four individuals will be inducted into the Hall of Distinction, and one individual will be recognized as Citizen of the Year.
Max Miller helped form the well-known business Miller Studio Inc. Under his leadership, Miller Studio grew into MPI, or Miller Products Inc., with factories from California to Connecticut manufacturing a diversified array of products.
After a successful career as an arts educator and chair of the music and arts department at Dover High School, Jeannine Kennedy joined the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts with a vision to bring TCCA into the community and fulfill its mission.
During 18 years at Temple University in Philadelphia, Matt Brunner developed a marching band that has been featured in two major motion pictures and has made numerous appearances on television news programs. The band’s accomplishments were highlighted this past year when it was invited to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Brunner also has distinguished himself by writing more than 200 arrangements for other bands.
Glen Groh was instrumental in bringing a local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters to Tuscarawas County. In retirement, he has remained active in organizations including Horizon, Boy Scouts and Big Brothers Big Sisters. His continued involvement reflects a lifelong desire to serve the Dover community.
Josh Quillen will be recognized as Citizen of the Year. Quillen was a member of the group So Percussion, which won a Grammy for best chamber music/small ensemble performance.
The induction ceremony will begin with lunch at 1 p.m., followed by a brief business meeting. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Historical Society will announce the inductees and share a brief biography of each individual.
