Cleveland Clinic names new VP, chief medical officer at Union
She replaces Thomas Rogers, M.D., who was appointed vice president and chief medical officer at Medina Hospital
Cleveland Clinic has named Kavitha Subramanian, M.D., SFHM, vice president and chief medical officer of Union Hospital, effective Oct. 14, 2025.
Subramanian is a hospitalist at Cleveland Clinic Akron General for Sound Physicians, which also provides hospitalist care at Union Hospital and several other Cleveland Clinic hospitals. She serves as division chief of hospital medicine for Sound, as well as system medical director for hospital medicine for Union, Akron General and Mercy hospitals.
“Dr. Subramanian has provided empathetic care in leadership roles over many years at Akron General. Her dedication to caregivers and patients is noteworthy, and we are fortunate to have her take the top leadership position at Union Hospital,” said Teri Lash-Ritter, M.D., president of Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Cleveland Clinic’s South Submarket, which includes Medina and Union hospitals. “She will ensure that Union Hospital continues to grow and meet the needs of the Tuscarawas Valley community.”
Subramanian recently completed a term as chief of staff at Akron General. She has served as medical director for Sound Physicians at Akron General since 2015. She previously served as vice chief of staff from 2021 to 2023 and was co-chief hospitalist from 2014 to 2015.
She earned her medical degree from Madurai Medical College at the Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University in India and completed a residency in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
She replaces Thomas Rogers, M.D., who was appointed vice president and chief medical officer at Medina Hospital in June.
