Civil War Round Table to host April 9 program

Dan Welch will share insights from his career as a Civil War historian and his work with the National Park Service at Gettysburg

The Gettysburg National Military Park protects and interprets the landscape of the Battle of Gettysburg, fought over three days between July 1 and July 3, 1863, during the American Civil War.

The Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table will meet at 6:30 p.m. April 9 in the Community Room of the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St. in Dover.

The featured presenter will be Dan Welch, who will present “Tales of a National Park Service Ranger at Gettysburg National Military Park.” Welch will share insights from his career as a Civil War historian and his work with the National Park Service at Gettysburg. The program will take place via Zoom.

Welch has served as editor of Gettysburg Magazine, a National Park Service ranger at Gettysburg National Military Park, education programs coordinator with the Gettysburg Foundation, and an instrumental music teacher in several public school districts in northeast Ohio. He is the co-author of two works in the Emerging Civil War Series, “The Last Road North: A Guide to the Gettysburg Campaign, 1863” and “Never Such a Campaign: The Battle of Second Manassas, Aug. 28-30, 1862.”

The mission of the Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table is to educate the community about the American Civil War, preserve Civil War heritage and remember those who struggled for their cause.
