Medina County to host prescription drug take back day April 25
Residents can safely dispose of unused medications at three locations
On April 25, Medina County will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
This event provides residents with a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications. According to the DEA, since 2010, this event has collected more than 20 million pounds of medication.
Unused medications in the home pose a risk for misuse and accidental poisoning. Additionally, there are environmental risks from improper disposal. This event supports prevention efforts, protects families and reduces the chances of medications entering the water supply through improper disposal methods such as flushing.
Community members are encouraged to visit one of three collection sites April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
• Medina County Health Department, 4800 Ledgewood Drive, Medina
• Brunswick Police Department, 4095 Center Road, Brunswick
• Wadsworth Police Department, 120 Maple St., Wadsworth
No personal information will be collected and no questions asked. All sites will accept tablets, capsules, patches and other solid prescription medications for safe disposal. Liquids and other items may also be accepted depending on resources available at each site. All medications are handled securely and transported for proper destruction.
The Medina County Health Department will have additional prevention resources available at the drive-thru event, including medication lock boxes, safe disposal bags and naloxone. For more information, contact the Health Department at 330-723-9688, option 2.
