MICAH elects new leadership team
Coalition continues push for workforce housing opportunities in Medina County
The Medina Interfaith Coalition for Affordable Housing elected a new leadership team May 12 as the organization continues advocating for additional workforce housing opportunities throughout Medina County.
Leading the organization as president is Skip Sipos, the recently retired executive director of the Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority. Sipos brings more than 40 years of affordable housing and community development experience in Cuyahoga and Medina counties.
A graduate of Cleveland State University, Sipos holds housing management certifications and is a graduate of Leadership Medina County. He represents Medina United Methodist Church on the MICAH board and has been a member of the church since 1995.
Sipos succeeds Nicole Weidokal, executive pastor at Heartland Community Church in Medina and a founding member of the MICAH board, who served one term as president. She will remain active as a director.
Jamie Nixon will continue serving as vice president. Nixon, a greater deacon at Brunswick Reformed Church and a founding member of the MICAH board, lives in Strongsville with his family and serves as Great Lakes territory manager for Smart Circle International.
Continuing as secretary-treasurer is Melanie Gardiner, assistant pastor at Cornerstone Chapel in Medina. Gardiner, also a founding member of the MICAH board, is a graduate of Leadership Medina County’s Emerging Leaders program, a volunteer CASA/GAL for Summit County courts and a board member for the Medina County Home.
MICAH is a faith-based coalition of seven area churches that works to raise awareness and advocate for the development of affordable workforce housing solutions throughout Medina County. The organization envisions an affordable housing complex in the Medina area managed through an agency such as the Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority.
