The Brass Band of the Western Reserve will present its concert “Red, White & Brass: 250 Years of America” at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Medina Performing Arts Center Middle Stage Auditorium, 851 Weymouth Road.

The concert celebrates America’s 250th anniversary through a program featuring patriotic selections, Broadway music, jazz-era favorites and World War II-era melodies.

“We are excited to celebrate America’s 250th birthday through our high-energy program, ‘Red, White, and Brass,’” said Music Director Jay Wardeska. “Our program spans a wide variety of musical genres from patriotic pieces like ‘American Pageant’ and Sousa’s ‘Liberty Bell’ to the resilient, nostalgic melodies of the World War II era found in ‘Keep Smiling Through,’ to the jazz age and down Broadway. The concert is a heartfelt tribute to our shared heritage, and we look forward to commemorating this historic milestone with our community through a night of unforgettable music.”

Vice President Maryann Veyon said the performance was designed to appeal to a wide audience.
