The Medina County Historical Society will host several public events in June, including an ice cream social during the Medina Community Band concert and monthly open houses at its two museums.

The historical society will host the Medina Community Band Concert Ice Cream Social on June 12 on Medina Public Square. The concert will run from 8-9 p.m.

Beginning around 6 p.m., MCHS volunteers will sell baked goods, snacks, ice cream and beverages near the bandstand area by Liberty Street. Donations also will be accepted.

The society also announced its monthly open houses will take place June 14, with both museums now open on the same day. The open houses will be held from 1-4 p.m. at the John Smart House, 206 N. Elmwood Ave., and the McDowell-Phillips House Museum, 205 S. Prospect St.

A new exhibit at the John Smart House, “The History of Medicine in Medina County,” features medical tools, a historic timeline and video interviews. A suggested donation of $5 is requested for the John Smart House.

Admission to the McDowell-Phillips House Museum is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $7 for youth ages 7-17. Children younger than 7 are admitted free. Tours begin every 20 minutes starting at 1 p.m.

Private tours also are available by contacting 330-722-1341 or emailing mchs@zoominternet.net.
