Medina County Job and Family Services is inviting residents to learn more about becoming foster parents during a series of monthly virtual informational meetings.
The first session will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15. Additional meetings are set for 7 p.m. Oct. 16 and noon Nov. 13. Each meeting will last about 30 minutes and provide details on requirements, expectations, licensing, available supports and frequently asked questions.
“These meetings are for anyone interested in learning more,” said Layne Hedden, local foster parent recruiter and peer supporter. “Whether someone is seriously considering fostering, just has a few questions, or is simply curious, this is an opportunity to find out what’s involved.”
Foster parents play a critical role in providing safe, loving environments for children until they can be reunified with their families or placed in permanent homes. There is a particular need in Medina County for families willing to foster school-aged children and sibling groups.
Participants will meet members of the JFS foster care team and receive guidance on next steps for getting started.
