Medina County college and career fair draws hundreds

28th annual event at the fairgrounds showcased 80-plus colleges, training programs and internships with financial aid guidance and prizes

The 28th annual Medina County College and Career Fair brought together more than 300 students, parents and educators to connect with over 80 colleges, businesses and training programs offering post-graduation opportunities.

The 28th annual Medina County College and Career Fair drew more than 300 students, parents and educators Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Medina Fairgrounds Community Center, showcasing opportunities from more than 80 colleges and career-focused organizations from Ohio and neighboring states.

Organizers expanded this year’s fair to include additional local businesses that offer training, further education and internships, giving students more ways to “explore their future.” A full list of participating organizations is available at medina-esc.org under “Special Events.”

Families also received guidance on financial aid, and several community resource organizations were on hand. Attendees praised the event as informative and welcoming, noting helpful college and trade school representatives and the presence of out-of-state schools.

Students again used the “Education Passport,” a bingo-style card that encouraged visits to more exhibitor tables; completed passports could be exchanged for prizes from the Educational Service Center of Medina County.

The fair also offered StriveScan, an optional tool that lets students share contact information with colleges by barcode. Representatives scanned students’ codes during the event, and participants received a follow-up report the next day listing the organizations they connected with.

The fair was coordinated by the Educational Service Center of Medina County and the Medina County Economic Development Corporation, and authorized by the Ohio Association for College Admission Counselors. Organizers thanked local high school guidance counselors for planning support, the Medina County Community Center staff for on-site assistance, and 20 Medina County Career Center students who volunteered as ushers.
