Medina County has a new voice sprouting in the literary world. Local author Eileen Colette has released her debut book, Why Plants Die and Other Happy Thoughts, a collection that blends gardening wisdom with life lessons, humor and hope.
Colette is no stranger to Medina. She has been an active resident for years, attending community events, participating in church programs and hosting garden parties at her home. “Being rooted here matters to me,” she said. “This community has shaped who I am, and I love giving back through words, music, gardening and shared stories.”
Her book, published under her brand Roots OMG (Of My Garden), serves as a guide for the soul. It invites readers to reflect on resilience, growth and finding joy in unexpected places — just like plants pushing through hard soil.
For readers eager to grab a copy, Colette’s book will be available beginning Sept. 15 at Buehler’s Fresh Foods locations across Medina County, including Route 18, Pearl Road and Wadsworth. Signed copies can also be purchased directly from the author at upcoming appearances throughout the county or on her website.
“I want people to see that stories and inspiration don’t have to come from far away; they can come from right here in Medina,” Colette said. “Supporting local authors means investing in the culture and creativity of our neighborhoods.”
In addition to her writing, Colette continues to host Roots OMG Garden events, share her journey on social media and encourage others to “think like a plant.” Upcoming author events and signings are listed at RootsOMG.com.
Residents can meet Colette in person, hear her story and purchase a signed copy of Why Plants Die and Other Happy Thoughts at those events.
