Henry, Tomasheski honored as Medina High School’s October Students of the Month

Seniors recognized for academic excellence, leadership, athletics and service to school and community

Medina High School seniors Avery Henry and Paul Tomasheski have been named the school’s October Students of the Month.

Avery is a dynamic leader and the face of the Medina High School Student Council, known for her energy, positivity and welcoming spirit. Approachable, kind and inclusive, she is highly respected by her peers. Avery balances rigorous academics with extensive extracurricular involvement, taking Advanced Placement, Honors and College Credit Plus courses. She has earned the Medina High School Academic Distinction Award summa cum laude in her freshman, sophomore and junior years.

She is an active member of the National Honor Society, Hope Squad, HUDDLE, Key Club and Best Buddies, and currently serves as Student Council president.

In athletics, Avery is a varsity football and basketball cheerleader, a member of the varsity cross-country and track teams, and a 2025 homecoming candidate. She also volunteers with Top Soccer, an adaptive sports program for athletes with special needs, and Sparkle and Shine Cheer, a national initiative promoting inclusive cheer and dance squads. Following graduation, Avery plans to study biology with a focus on health care. She is the daughter of Jonathan and Soo Henry.

Paul excels both academically and athletically, approaching challenges with analytical thinking, focus and determination. He understands that true success comes from learning from mistakes and consistent effort. By holding himself and others accountable, Paul models discipline, leadership and integrity for his peers.

His academic record includes College Credit Plus courses, summa cum laude recognition for the Medina High School Academic Distinction Award during his first three years, and honors as a Commended Student in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. He has also been named to the University of Akron Dean’s List each year since his freshman year.

A dedicated athlete, Paul is a four-year member of the MHS football team, having played varsity for the past two years. He is also a two-year member of HUDDLE and the Recycling Club. Beyond athletics, he works as a freelance web developer for local businesses and volunteers as a web development tutor for The Odin Project, a free, open-source online coding curriculum. After graduation, he plans to pursue a degree in mathematics. Paul is the son of Mark and Linda Tomasheski.
