Historic Zoar Village will bring back its Maifest German festival Friday, May 9 from 5:30-10 p.m. and Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Maifest is a great way for visitors to celebrate the coming of spring the German way — with beers, brats and bands,” said Tammi Shrum, site director at Historic Zoar Village.

Food and drink options will include roasted chicken, Cleveland Kraut sauerkraut and craft beers provided by Lockport Brewery, Wooly Pig Farm Brewery, and Maize Valley Winery and Brewery.

Local music artists Lulu’s Button Box Review, Gemutlichkeit Clevelander Musikanten and Visinata will perform live German music throughout the event.

Guests also can view a selection of antique and modern German-made vehicles at the All-Marques German Car Show Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lot across from the Zoar United Church of Christ. Car owners may register at the church the day of the event starting at 10 a.m. or preregister by calling 330-874-3011 or emailing zoarinfo@zca.org. Registration is $10, and proceeds benefit preservation and educational efforts at Historic Zoar Village.

The “Landscapes of Memory” art exhibit by Cleveland painter Adam Lehr will be on display at the Bimeler Museum. The exhibit is the largest gathering of Lehr’s work in one location and reflects on the history and landscape of the Zoar community.

Maifest admission is free. During the festival, guided tours of Zoar Village will be available at a discounted rate of $5 for adults and free for children age 11 and under.
