Holmes County Library announces March events
Programs include a creative writing contest, Storytime sessions and a movie event in Millersburg.
The Holmes County District Public Library will offer a variety of March programs for all ages including a creative writing contest, weekly Storytimes and playgroups, teen activities, book clubs, and a special “Wizard of Oz” movie event celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

The library’s annual creative writing contest will run March 2 through April 27. Children, teens and adults are invited to submit original short stories or poetry. Entry forms and contest rules are available at the Holmes County Central Library in Millersburg and the East Branch Library in Walnut Creek. Prizes will be awarded to the top entry in each age group.
Storytime will be offered at multiple locations throughout the month. The Killbuck Library will host Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. The East Branch Library will host Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, March 4, 11, 18 and 25. The Holmes County Central Library will host Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Fridays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27. Children age 2-5 accompanied by an adult are invited to enjoy stories, songs, rhymes and more.
Little Learners Playgroup will be held at 11 a.m. Fridays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27 at the Holmes County Central Library. Children up to age 5 with an adult can participate in hands-on activities designed to promote reading and social skills, meet new friends, and receive snacks.
Paws to Read will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 14 at the Holmes County Central Library. Children can stop by the children’s department to read to therapy dogs from Caring Therapy Canines.
Doodle in 3D will be offered at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 26 at the Holmes County Central Library. Tweens and teens age 8 and older will use 3D pens and templates to create 3D projects. Registration is required.
Two adult book club sessions will meet Tuesday, March 31 at the Holmes County Central Library. The 1 p.m. session will discuss “Mrs. Christie at the Mystery Guild Library” by Amanda Chapman, and the 6 p.m. session will discuss “Flight of Dreams” by Ariel Lawhon. Books are available for pickup at the Holmes County Central Library's help desk. New members are welcome.
The Holmes County Library Goes to the Movies event will be held Tuesday, March 31 at the Holmes County Central Library. Activities will begin at noon, with the original “The Wizard of Oz” movie starting at 1 p.m. Attendees can create a commemorative photo using a full-service photo booth, and refreshments will be provided. The program is part of Ohio Goes to the Movies, a statewide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary featuring an all-Ohio movie series throughout 2026.
