It all began Feb. 4, 1956, with the first meeting of the Arbor Day Committee under the leadership of Dr. O.D. Diller.

In cooperation with the Wooster Shade Tree Commission and Wooster City Schools, the Wooster Noon Lions helped to plant 3,368 dogwood seedlings to be distributed to all Wooster City School students on Arbor Day, April 27, 1956.

This year was the Wooster Noon Lions’ 69th year of distributing 309 dogwood seedlings to all Wooster City Schools first-graders including Wooster Christian and St. Mary’s.

Wooster Noon Lions also potted 295 magnolia seedlings for all fifth-graders at the same schools.

All of this would not be possible without the help of Dan Yarnell and Brian Fortune from the City of Wooster and PDG Lion Todd Imhoff.
