Vane Scott to speak at Marine Corps Dinner

The 242nd Birthday of the United States Marine Corps will be celebrated locally with a dinner, cake-cutting ceremony and guest speaker on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, 425 Prospect St. in Dover at 7 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Vane Scott of Newcomerstown. Scott will conduct a program called "The Many Faces of Old Glory," discussing the history of the United States Flag.

The Marine Corps has distinctive rituals and traditions. There will be a reading of the Birthday Message from the commandant of the Marine Corps.

The Marine Corps Birthday Dinner program is open to the public. The cost is $18 per person and must be purchased by Tuesday, Oct. 31. Due to a required head count, there will be no exceptions at the door.
