TOPS members ‘find the magic’
On Jan. 15, TOPS OH1573 Nashville opened with pledges. Gaye Keller was best weekly loser. She said to drink water and keep a food journal. Lana Rush was best weekly KOPS, and Janice Tope won the recent Holiday Stocking Stuffer Contest.
Bonnie Porter gave a program titled “Finding the Magic,” in which psychologists say there are three parts to weight loss. The magic to weight loss is motivation. How do you get it? First, imagine negative images of yourself and then positive images such as being healthier, looking better, being able to tie your shoes and being able to buy clothes anywhere. Another part is exercise, allowing you to have more energy, walk better and have less joint pain. The third part is food: eat more vegetables and fruit, less carbohydrates, and limited sugar. The article ended with a dozen rhyming phrases.
TOPS meets at the Nashville Global Methodist Church on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., with weigh-in at 5 p.m. The first meeting is free.
