At the Sept. 22 Sugarcreek Village Council meeting, Sugarcreek Fire Chief John Meek said the aerial (ladder) truck needs some repairs to a section of the ladder.
“We took the truck in for regular maintenance, and they found a crack and rust in a section of the ladder. The section was removed and is being repaired,” Meek said. “The truck will be out of service for about a month until the section can be rebuilt. There will be no cost for the repairs.”
Meek said the fire department has other options if it needs a ladder truck. Many other fire departments own ladder trucks.
On Oct. 11 from 7-11 a.m., the fire department will hold its annual open house and breakfast. Firefighters will serve eggs, bacon, pancakes and beverages. The cost is by donation.
There also will be a raffle for two e-bikes. Tickets are $20 each and are available at the fire department, located at 152 N. Broadway, and Sugar Valley Bicycle Shop, located at 1030 Skyline Drive in Sugarcreek. The e-bikes will be awarded during the open house. There also will be blood pressure checks by the Rotary Club.
