An upcoming pancake breakfast at Buckeye Career Center will help keep the memory of a former staff member alive while also benefiting a scholarship in her name. The first Shannon Wigfield Scholarship Pancake Breakfast will be Saturday, March 1 at Buckeye Career Center from 7-10:30 a.m.

The proceeds from the breakfast will support the Shannon Wigfield Scholarship through the Buckeye Career Center Foundation, which awards a $2,500 scholarship to a BCC senior. Wigfield was a teacher at BCC for 24 years, prior to her passing as a result of the November 2023 bus crash involving the Tusky Valley band and chaperones.

Tickets are $10 and are being sold in advance, with a limited number of tickets to be sold at the door. Children under 5 will receive a complimentary meal. A silent auction also is planned.

“Shannon was an incredible educator and mentor who made a lasting impact on her students and colleagues,” event co-organizer Jennifer Robinson said. “This scholarship will help carry forward her dedication to learning and her unwavering belief in the potential of every student.”

To purchase tickets, call or email Robinson at 330-339-2288 ext. 1231 or jrobinson@buckeyecareercenter.org or Katrina Bundy at 330-339-2288 ext. 1320 or kbundy@buckeyecareercenter.org.
