Heartland Technical Education Center BOE approves five-year forecast and personnel changes

Board action covers fiscal 2025–29 projections, new hires and resignations, and upcoming events including Gloves & Goggles, “Is CTE for Me?” and OSBA Capital Conference.

The Heartland Technical Education Center Board of Education met Thursday, Oct. 9 in the board room for its regular October meeting.

Board members approved the meeting agenda, along with any additions or deletions. Under the treasurer’s consent agenda, the board approved the minutes from the Sept. 18 regular meeting and the September financial report. The treasurer’s items also included approval of the five-year forecast and assumptions for fiscal years 2025 through 2029.

Under the superintendent’s consent agenda, the board approved the Adult Education Advisory Committees for the 2025-26 school year and an out-of-state trip for Tod Fox, Ashland High School agriculture teacher, to Indianapolis, Ind., for the national FFA competition.

Personnel actions included approving volunteers in the satellite agriculture program at Ashland City Schools for the 2025-26 school year; hiring Jerrell Leggs as a culinary careers management paraprofessional; accepting the resignation of health tech instructor Amanda Young; approving certified limited one-year supplemental contracts with salaries as specified in the negotiated agreement for the OX program format; and approving the employment of certified and classified personnel as substitutes for the district.

Superintendent’s information items included updates on the OCTA Conference held Oct. 8-10, the Gloves & Goggles program for sixth-graders scheduled for Oct. 21-22, parent-teacher conferences and open houses on Oct. 9 and 16, the “Is CTE for Me?” event for eighth-graders on Nov. 14, the OSBA Capital Conference Nov. 16–18, and the next regular board meeting set for Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. A building project update was also shared.

No committee reports were presented, though board members provided updates from their respective home schools.
