The East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Friday, June 20 at the Central Office.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Approved a five-year contract extension for Erik H. Beun, superintendent, effective Aug. 1, 2026, through July 31, 2031.
—Approved a three-year contract for Micki Krantz as assistant superintendent for the East Holmes Local School District. She will receive a contract effective Aug. 1, 2025, through July 31, 2028.
—Recognized Carrie Jones, English at Hiland, as the Teacher of the Year and Iva Weaver, head cook at Walnut Creek, as the Classified Staff of the Year.
—Adopted the following fees for the 2025-26 school year: elementary lunch, $3.75; middle and high school lunch, $4; adult lunch, $5; reduced price meals, 40 cents; milk, 75 cents; elementary breakfast, free; middle and high school breakfast, free; adult breakfast, $3.75; and reduced price meals, free.
—Accepted the following resignations: Bridgid Mast, Title 1 at Chestnut Ridge, retiring at the end of the 2024-25 contractual year, and Cheryl Whitman, bus driver, retiring at the end of the 2024-25 contractual year.
—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2025-26 school year to the following certified personnel, pending completion of all requirements: Emily Walker, general teacher at Walnut Creek/Winesburg.
—Approved the following placements on the certified salary schedule effective at the beginning of the 2025-26 contractual school year: Sara Hales to Masters+20 and Stephanie Martinez to Masters+20.
—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2025-26 school year to the following classified personnel, pending completion of all requirements: Sophia Parent, paraprofessional (aide) at Mt. Hope.
—Approved an increase in hours for Marlea Leinbach-Hershberger, art teacher at Hiland, from part-time to full-time status (art and general teacher) for the 2025-26 contractual school year.
—Approved a decrease in hours for Kathy Shoup, district parent coordinator, from full-time to part-time status (0.75) for the 2025-26 contractual school year.
—Approved an increase in hours for Jenni Hershberger, district parent coordinator, from part-time to full-time status for the 2025-26 contractual school year.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for July 18 at the Central Office.
