Community members are invited to help fill decorated shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, coloring books and other gifts that will be sent to children in other countries. All supplies are provided, and snacks and Christmas music will help set the festive mood.
A small team at Greentown United Methodist works year-round to collect and organize items for the event. Last year, with the help of volunteers, more than 600 boxes were packed.
Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 209 million shoeboxes to children in over 170 countries since its founding in 1993, often providing children with their first-ever gift and a tangible expression of God’s love.
